Tarbeyah is an Islamic approach to psychosocial education
Like all professional practices, Tarbeyah is acquired and improved through professional training
Tarbeyah requires all teachers and management to synchronise their practices. Tarbeyah requires a whole school ethos.
We are experts in both modern Psychosocial education and traditional Islamic Tarbeyah.
Our mission is:
to revive Tarbeyah as an Islamic approach to psychosocial education for Muslims, and to develop Tarbeyah as a professional practice within modern educational Institutions.
Our main office is in Leicester UK, and we serve Muslim schools any where in the world.
Dr. Mohamed Elshirazy has a 27 years experience in the fields of education, counselling and Islamic Tarbeyah. He trained professionals on psychosocial education and Tarbeyah in three different countries:, Egypt, UK, and Pakistan. Dr.Elshirazy has a PhD in Psychosocial Education from the Institute of Education at University College London, which is ranked first in the world in Education. He also has a Master of Science in Counselling from University of Edinburgh (UK), and he was trained as a Maths Teacher at University of East Anglia(UK) where he got his PGCE and QTS (Teaching Licence in UK). Dr. Elshirazy worked in one of the oldest UK secondary schools, and in prestigious International schools in Egypt. He was the head of the school counsellors training programme at Halaqat Academy, Egypt, and he was the head of the Islamic Counselling training programme in iCircles UK. He was a member of the Government’s strategic planning committee for education in Egypt.
Dr. Elshirazy developed a unique dialectic pedagogy to train teachers and parents on an Islamic approach for psychosocial education. The dialectic pedagogy uses special cases that allow participants to engage with two sets of literature at the same time, through structured case analysis participants engage with both Islamic Literature of Tarbeyah and modern psychosocial literature applied on the same case. This approach is particularly effective for practicing Tarbeyah in a mixed discourse environment, such as the discourse young people experience on the internet. This training approach received very positive feedback from clients in UK, Egypt, and Pakistan.
