Teachers who complete the full 4-modules programme and successfully pass the programme assessment will receive the Post Graduate Certificate in Tarbeyah (PGCT)
Module duration is 6 weeks, one 3-hours session per week.
This module focuses on developing the necessary conditions for an effective Tarbeyah practice. In this module teachers develop their perspective on the psychological and the social conditions that shape the human behaviour. A well developed Perspective on the psychosocial conditions of human behaviour is essential for an effective practice of teaching and guiding.
The main target of this module is the teachers’ assumptions and core beliefs about human behaviour. The module uses a dialectic pedagogy approach to provide a stimulating and safe space for teachers to discover, analyse and develop their own thinking and assumptions about: learning, motivation, and change.
The dialectic pedagogy approach introduces teachers to both Modern and Islamic perspectives on human behaviour, learning, and motivation. The module aims to develop a Tarbeyah perspective that is strongly grounded in Islamic concepts while effectively engaging with the modern world.
Module duration is 6 weeks, one 3-hours session per week.
In this module teachers explore the different dimensions of the human agency, and the different paths to behavioural and psychological change. Teachers learn about the cognitive, emotional, and behavioural components of growth and development. They learn about how to positively deal with the inevitabilities of making mistakes, failures and relapses along the path of growth and transformation. We ground our understanding on the Islamic concept of Tawba. Teachers also learn how to deal with incremental successes along the path and how to maintain one’s commitment and resilience to keep progressing on the path of growth and transformation.
In this module teachers explore the scope and limitations of the human agency. We investigate the inherent tensions within the human agency and teachers learn ways to successfully deal with these inherent tensions and how to transform tensions into productive energy for growth and transformation.
This module also explore power-relations and how they shape the human behaviour. We learn how to reveal hidden power relations and how to deal with them. Teachers learn to cultivate resilience to maintain progress on the path of growth and transformation. We ground these discussions onto the Islamic concepts of Taqwa , Saber and Shukr.
Module duration is 4 weeks, one 3-hours session per week.
In this module we analyse and compare Tarbeyah Models. We compare and contrast Imam Al Ghazali Model of Tarbeyah with modern psychosocial education approaches. This is an intensive reading seminar where we delve into the writings of Imam al Ghazaly as well as key literature from modern psychosocial education. The aim of this module is to bring together the different elements of Tarbeyah discussed in the previous two modules and see them integrated into a holistic Tarbeyah approach.
Module duration is 4 weeks, 1 group session per week, 2 hours per session, PLUS, individual supervision sessions
This is a hands on module, where we support and supervise teachers in developing their own Tarbeyah project within their own classrooms. In this Module we help teachers discover their own Tarbeyah style that incorporates their particular strengths. We also help teacher to identify their own limitations and learn how to adjust their Tarbeyah style accordingly. Teachers will be observed while they deliver their Tarbeyah projects and will be given feedback and a space to further develop their own Tarbeyah approach. Teachers will be paired to observe each others projects and collaboratively learn and support each other. There will be a weekly session to reflect on succeses and challenges that teachers encounter on the different phases of their project.
The cost of each training module for schools is GBP3000 . This fee is for training one group of up to 20 teachers.
1- Completion of all the above four modules
2- Submitting two critical reflection papers (4000 words each), or four smaller reflection articles (2000 words each).
Topics and content of papers will be individually discussed with each participant. Clear assessment criteria will also be discussed with the group.

Murabies choose a contemporary Tarbeyah challenge and design a Tarbeyah project to address the challenge they chose. They discus their project with their supervisor and deliver it to students. Murabies are asked to submit a 30min video clip of their practice during their Tarbeyah project. They are also asked to design a student’s feedback survey and ask students to fill it after delivering their project, and they are required to ask a peer to observe part of their project and fill the peer's feedback survey. Finally, murabies are asked to write a personal reflections paper (4000 words) analysing their own thinking process, practice, Tarbeyah style and the students response to their project.
Teachers who complete the full 4-modules programme and successfully pass the programme assessment will receive the Post Graduate Certificate in Tarbeyah (PGCT)
